An undertaking as challenging as C-FLY requires the very latest manufacturing and build techniques. The hulls, beams and spars of C-FLY Coastal are advanced carbon composite construction.
The unique hydrofoils are CNC machined from blocks of aerospace grade aluminium alloy to create the precise shapes required, giving a light, strong and damage tolerant structure.
A solid wingsail had been considered but a more conventional high performance multihull rig and carbon wing mast was selected as this meets the need for all-round versatility and robustness.
The detail engineering of components and mechanisms is to aerospace standards to achieve the required functionality and reliability, whilst reducing weight.
